There has been a lot on my mind and on the world’s collective minds and hearts; I am sure. These last couple weeks have been filled with tumultuous events both locally and globally. With all the turmoil, it becomes overwhelming at times to even think straight but having to work through the chaos and go through a process of finding peace and even purpose is an opportunity to create a greater good within yourself and for others.

The injustices and tragedies that have transpired and continue in Iran, since the election on June 12, has made an impact on me and strengthens my growth with global and humanitarian awareness. It was important for me, personally, to take some time to reflect on what the protests in Iran meant and especially, the death of Neda—a symbol of ultimate sacrifice and blatant injustice for these protests. I am writing a eulogy of sorts because I wanted to let it be known that her voice and the collective voices of all who stood in opposition to the oppressive actions of the Iranian government were not muted. I not only heard it but I felt it. It is a tribute and record of their courageous fight for truth and a greater good.

There was also an article in the LA Times about a week ago that I wanted to share about Neda and those that knew and loved her as a family member and friend. I encourage anyone who took notice of the events in Iran to read it.

Here in the US there is a monumental decision to be made about health care. I have not made any donations of the political nature since my donation to Obama’s Presidential campaign; however, I truly believe the debate on health care is one that has to be at the forefront of our minds and I made a recent donation of $50 to aid our President and colleagues in forming that discussion and pushing his plan on health care. I have been severely injured without having insurance and am consequently in a class action lawsuit for being charged in excess of 35% for my hospital fees that I had to struggle to pay with a personal credit card loan. I have seen loved ones have to jump through red tape and hoops instead of focus on getting better. It is time that the system is changed even if we don’t get it right the first time. Status quo is no longer an option.

I leave you with the words and thoughts of the immortal Michael Jackson, “Heal the world. Make it a better place.” I aim to take his words to heart and fybut was created in that spirit and I am terribly proud of what we have accomplished and how much we have grown through this venture with your help and participation. I am even more optimistic about the future and the importance of this journey.
